Ping Zing Golf Iron Sets

The Ping Zing Golf Iron Set is renowned for its exceptional forgiveness, consistency, and playability. Featuring an innovative perimeter-weighted design, these irons provide an expanded sweet spot and enhanced stability, ensuring consistent performance even on off-center hits. The unique, slightly offset hosel helps to square the face at impact, promoting straighter shots and improved accuracy. Crafted from durable stainless steel, the Zing irons deliver a solid feel and long-lasting performance. The wide sole design allows for optimal turf interaction, making it easier to achieve clean strikes from various lies.

Perfect irons for:
Golfers looking for a classic design that offers a forgiving and easy-to-hit iron.

Key features include:

Perimeter WeightingWeight is distributed around the edges of the clubhead, which increases forgiveness on off-center hits.
Large Sweet SpotA larger area on the clubface where you can make contact with the ball and still get a good result.
Cavity Back DesignHelps to save weight and move the center of gravity lower. A lower center of gravity promotes higher launch and more forgiveness.

Progression of the ZING irons

Initially offered in 1992, the Ping ZING Iron was Ping's most dramatically perimeter-weighted iron ever. It featured an extremely wide top line and bold toe weighting. The ZING and Zing 2 followed the success of the Eye series from 1979 to 1990.

👍 Pros
I recently put a Zing 3 iron in the bag, I love the cutout sole design.
I played Zings for many years and loved them. One of the few early/mid-1990s game improvement irons that have stood the test of time.
I’ve hit a lot of irons, and the Zings are one of the straightest and definitely the highest ball flight I’ve ever seen. They're high but in a good way.
👎 Cons
People say they're ugly but I love my ZINGS.
Top line is definitely thick, but I can get past that.
When you hit them for the first time, you just shake your head and wonder how something so old and weird-looking can still hit so well.
The Zing, introduced in the early 1990s, is a classic game-improvement set that has maintained a loyal following among golfers for its forgiveness and consistency. This set is very wide in the blade. It's super forgiving and super straight. You'll get less distance than with a newer set, but the Zing is fun to play and nostalgic for Ping lovers. The Zings are an excellent option for anyone on a budget or who wants to buy a classic Ping set.
