Top Competitors

All three are two-piece composite bats with a large sweet spot. The Worth Legit Maxload offers a more balanced approach, with consistent power across the sweet spot for reliable hitting. The DeMarini CF Zen swings stiffer and might have a slightly larger sweet spot than the Miken Freak, but may not hit the ball quite as far.

Progression of the Miken Freak Softball Bats

The Miken Freak was one of the first softball bats to be made from patented carbon fiber composite material. Composite bats offered several advantages over aluminum: a larger sweet spot, trampoline effect, and a lighter swing weight. Miken has released various Freak iterations featuring refinements in materials, barrel design, and swing weight to stay competitive in the bat market.

👍 Pros
The bat came out hot from the wrapper and feels amazing.
I've taken lots of good swings on this bat (over 200). It's one of the hottest bats ever. Ball jumps off of it!
I’m not a power hitter, more of a contact hitter. The other night though, with this bat, I was a power hitter, it’s got a lot of pop in it.
👎 Cons
Not durable enough for long time play.
I’ve had many Miken bats that are still in one piece. This model is just poorly constructed.
The ball doesn’t travel well. Bat is dead. For the price, I wish I would have gotten something else.
The Freak series is a good option for hitters who crave power and distance. There are a variety of models to choose from. However, keep in mind the price point and potentially heavier swing weight before you buy. If you can handle it, the Miken Freak can be awesome at the plate. If you prioritize pure power and distance, the end-loaded models are your best bet. For those who want a good balance of power and control, the balanced models are a great choice, and the lighter Freak models will offer an option for contact hitters who still crave some pop.
