It also features a very stiff scoop, which helps create a channel for increased accuracy on shots, while at the same time helping to generate more power. This head is not legal for current high school or college play, since it does not meet the three-inch throat rule. As a result, the Surgeon 500 is mainly recommended for youth players or adult rec league players, where the rules are not as strict.
