Progression of the CCM Jetspeed 250
CCM’s signature skate release for 2015 was the all-new CCM Jetspeed. It’s a top-to-bottom redesign that replaces the now-discontinued RBZ. The RBZ skates were much wider and had a lot of negative space. They also had a problem with heel lock, which caused skaters to slip out of their heels. This led to skaters overtightening their skates, damaging the quarter packages and eyelets on the lacing. CCM considered these issues when designing the full composite JetSpeed ice skates.
The upgrades to the Jetspeed line include:
- 40 grams lighter than their RBZ predecessor.
- Contoured RocketFrame full composite boot.
- Double-stitched tendon guard to improve their durability.
- A JetProtect tongue. The first layer of the tongue contains thick felt, then a layer of EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) foam, and finally, a layer of HD (High Density) foam. The outer portion of the tongue features a protective ridge for the laces to rest upon, a "heavy weapon" in the battle against lace-bite.

The 250 doesn't have the quick-release holder, so you'd have to replace the bottom, but in most cases, for a recreational skater or someone just learning, it’s a great skate.
