👍 Pros
I play hockey once a week. The 70 is light and cool, it has good vision, and has face protection with the cage. The sizing is also easy to adjust.
For a relatively inexpensive helmet, it does the job and then some. Fit and comfort is excellent. It fully covers my ears and the chin strap has plenty of room.
It fits like a glove. I took the helmet right out of the box and put it on my head; no adjustments were required.
👎 Cons
The back of the helmet has good adjustability; however, I do find that it’s a little tight across from side to side, which you can't adjust.
You cannot take the ear covers off. It’s also a bit wide, so my old face shield does not fit.
Both screws on the cage came off really soon after I started using it.
The Tacks 70 is a solid entry-level helmet that punches above its weight. The dual-density liner provides a comfortable fit and decent impact protection, making it a good option for recreational players or those just starting out. The Easy Flip Clip adjustment system is a nice touch for finding the perfect fit without any tools. While it might not have all the features of the higher-end models, the Tacks 70 offers good value for money.
