The True L12.2 emphasizes maximum flexibility with its lighter-weight construction and a focus on a deep butterfly stance. This allows for quicker reaction times and easier lateral movements. CCM's Extreme Flex 5 counters with its Quick Release Technology in the glove and blocker, allowing for faster puck handling and smoother transitions between catching and blocking. Bauer Mach goes all-in on stability with its Vaughn VX2 outer flex panel. This translates to powerful pushes and a rock-solid base for absorbing even the hardest slapshots.

Progression of the True L12.2 Goalie Set

In 2022 True launched its second-generation stock set crafted by Lefevre. The True L12.2 goalie pad set is the successor to the True L12.1 model. Upgrades include additional HD foam padding throughout, a new "Fast Glide" material on the inner edges, allowing for better slide feel and movement in the crease, and reinforcements with double-layer Jenpro material on high-wear areas.

👍 Pros
These pads fit like a glove. They have held up well playing a dozen times a week.
If you have the option, get Trues. There’s a reason they’ve completely taken over for goalies in the NHL. It’s an amazing product.
I love the 580 break glove, only available through True or CCM.
👎 Cons
The 12.2 slide is okay, but there are better options out there. My 1X’s took less effort to push.
I’ve found that True pads fit large because of the flat boot. I'm a 34 in CCM/Bauer but need to go down to 33 for True pads.
I have played around 25 games, and I still haven't been able to break in this glove properly. It’s still very hard to close.
The True Goalie Pad has a simplified strapping system across the back of the leg. So for players who want a pad that's connected to their legs, True came out with this strapping system and nicknamed it the FRS or the "fast rotation system". They're very light and have a great feel on the body. The main selling point of True is that it's made in one factory in Montreal. Some people like to know that, say, Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues, his gear is being built directly next to theirs by the same designers. People are willing to wait longer and pay more for that kind of craftsmanship.
