Ping G30 Golf Drivers

The Ping G30 Driver is one of Ping’s best-selling drivers and the seventh edition in the Ping G series. Most notable to the G30 are the crown turbulators, which are aerodynamic fins that sit on the crown of the club to smooth the airflow and increase club head speed. Another upgrade is the adjustable hosel, which has doubled the number of loft options to fine-tune trajectory. The high-strength T9S Titanium Face is engineered to increase ball speeds, while the center of gravity is positioned low and deep, increasing the moment of inertia.

Perfect driver for:
Players who want to hit the ball farther and experience more consistent distance, even on mishits.

Key features include:

Turbulator TechnologyTurbulators in the crown of the 460cc head improve aerodynamics by reducing drag forces through the impact zone.
Weight SavingsThinning the face helps position the CG farther back for an optimized spin with a high MOI.
Stock TFC 419D ShaftHigher balance point that allows the head to be slightly heavier than previous G-series drivers, further increasing MOI and clubhead momentum for greater energy transfer at impact.
Adjustable LoftAdd or subtract up to 1 degree of loft.

The TaylorMade SLDR Driver offers a similar forgiveness with more adjustability. It features a movable weight that shifts the clubhead’s CG horizontally toward either the heel, to promote a draw, or toward the toe, to promote a fade. SLDR’s sliding weight allows you to shift the CG far enough to promote a side-to-side trajectory change of up to 30 yards. The Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver offers a slightly different approach, prioritizing forgiveness with a large sweet spot and a focus on generating high launch for more carry distance. The key differentiator incorporates internal weighting technology to promote a higher launch angle, resulting in more carry distance for golfers who struggle to get the ball airborne easily.

Progression of the G30 driver:

Ping took golf’s most forgiving driver, the G25, and made it even more forgiving with the G30. Ping not only lowered the spin but also added Turbulators to the G30. The Turbulators do a great job of helping the golfer line up their shot and also increase the club’s aerodynamic performance, allowing it to move more efficiently through the air during the swing.

Also new to the G30:

  • The body of the club is constructed from Ti 8-1-1, which creates a lightweight club and allows the engineers to move weight around to optimize the club's center of gravity.
  • An adjustable hosel that gives golfers a total of five different options.
👍 Pros
Much more forgiving and lower spinning than Ping’s G25 driver.
Added to my overall club speed, and my distance.
I love the new bumps on the front of the crown, it helps me line up the ball better.
👎 Cons
I had the LST model and it spun a bit too low for me.
Not the most playable driver. It's really high launch.
The G30 doesn't sound great and feels a bit odd when you make contact.
The turbulators built into the crown reduce drag to produce and generate faster clubhead speed. The result? Distance gains! A very low CG optimizes the launch and height MOI for extreme forgiveness and stability. The light titanium face will increase the distance as well. The adjustable hosel is easy to work with for your desired trajectory. The thin crown walls stabilize the sound, making it a very pleasant hit off the tee. Golfers will have an easy time finding the fairway with this driver.
