Marucci CAT X Baseball Bat
The Marucci CAT X Baseball Bat features both BBCOR and USSSA certifications and is a single-piece alloy bat with a well-sized barrel and excellent feel. Its multi-variable wall Ring-Free barrel provides consistent power across leagues, while the stiff S-40 composite handle offers a balanced swing weight and reduces vibration for improved comfort. The CAT X also features liquid-gel in the knob which reduces vibrations throughout the hands.
Key features include:
AZR Alloy Construction | Offers a more responsive microstructure for better feel, more forgiveness, and enhanced performance at the plate. |
Multi-variable wall design | Creates an expanded sweet spot and thinner barrel walls that are more forgiving after off-centered contact. |
Ring-free barrel | Provides maximum performance with no “dead” spots, ensuring every hit feels solid and powerful. |
AV2 Anti-vibration knob | Features an upgraded, finely tuned harmonic dampening system for better feel and less vibration. |
Professionally Inspired Handle | Features a removable taper and ergonomic knob shape for more top-hand control and comfortable swings. |
Top Competitors
iIf you're in need of a single-piece alloy bat, the CAT X has competition. The Voodoo One prioritizes a balanced swing weight and the Slugger Omaha has a slightly less forgiving sweet spot, but it swings the lightest of the three. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your preference: largest sweet spot (Cat X), balanced swing (Voodoo One), or lightest swing weight (Omaha).
Progression of the CAT X
The Marucci CAT X follows the popular CAT 9 that came before it in 2021. Here are the key upgrades:
- New longer smoother barrel profile for a more consistent, wider performance area.
- ~1” lower balance point compared to Cat 9 BBCOR.
- Thinner handle for more bottom-hand feel.
- 34mm removable hard taper giving top-hand control and more ergonomic fit.
- Liquid-Gel knob dampens sting faster and more efficiently than previous anti-vibration knobs.
- A single-piece alloy bat with a larger sweet spot than the 2023 version.
- A liquid gel in the knob like the CAT X, and also a new endcap.

Great pop and barrel control. The CATX seems lighter due to the way it’s balanced. If you’re thinking of moving up in size, do it with this bat. |
I got my son the CAT X BBCOR 33" bat. It’s well-built and other players seem to love using it as well. |
The grip is cushioned and comfortable. The liquid gel handle reduces vibrations and the "sweet spot" on the barrel is forgiving. Highly recommend this bat. |
👎 Cons |

This bat has NO pop and sounds like hitting rocks. The ball barely leaves the infield when my son hits it. |
Broken in by underhand toss of 160 pitches. Handle broke in a week. Wearing gloves saved the my son's hands. |
Unfortunately my son has been using this bat for only a few weeks and there is already something rattling in the handle. |
CATX came out in 2023. The first gen is a white ribbon silver bat. For the second run, Marucci came out with a version called the CATX Vanta. It's a blacked-out, limited-edition. Both gens are an alloy one-piece bat, both very strong performers. They took the alloy and strength from the CAT9 and applied the balance and feel from the CAT8 to develop the CATX.
