A hybrid golf club is a cross between an iron and a fairway wood that combines features of both woods and irons. Hybrid golf clubs replace long and medium irons but can also replace the 3 and 5 woods. Hybrid clubs are great for golfers who want to increase the distance and accuracy of their shots.

Loft refers to the angle of the club face, which affects trajectory and distance. Generally, experienced golfers with high clubhead speeds prefer lower lofts, while novice golfers benefit from higher lofts. Loft ratings on hybrids will be higher than both drivers and fairway woods, generally varying from 14 to 28 degrees.

Flex refers to how much the shaft of the golf club bends during the swing. There are generally five ratings for flex: extra stiff, stiff, regular, senior, and ladies. Your optimal flex will vary based on your technique and driver distance.

As shown here:

Flex Driver Distance
Extra stiff  Over 275 yards
Stiff 240-275 yards
Regular 200-240 yards
Senior 180-200 yards
Ladies  Under 180 yards
