First, it helps balance the bat and swing lighter, but mainly it is to create a choke up and this choke up helps dampen the sting you feel in your hands. The second knob is based off a no knob and allows for the maximum amount of torque and bat speed. Picture 4 is of the top hand area where i designed a reverse taper to make it skinny near the bottom of your hand and thicker towards the top. This allows for max bat speed, as well as more control of the bat. Think of it as a built in thumb guard. Picture 5 and 6 are of the thicker handle and slow transition. This gives the bat more balance as well as increasing the sweet spot of the bat. With a thicker bat the vibrational profile of the bat helps increase max sweet spot.
